Why E-Hatud Express Exists: A Delivery Service Built for the Little Guys

How It All Started

E-Hatud Express began with a simple frustration: there were no reliable delivery options in most towns across Southern Leyte.
While Foodpanda operated in Maasin City, the smaller towns had no active delivery service at all.

A few local attempts surfaced during the pandemic, but none lasted beyond a few months.

After that, the idea of a consistent, dependable delivery service outside Maasin seemed out of reach.

Instead of waiting for a solution from the big companies, Jim Ong-Oy and his wife decided to build one themselves.

What started as a few riders delivering meals and errands through chat soon evolved into E-Hatud Express, a fully operational food and errand delivery service created to serve the community that inspired it.

Built with Purpose

E-Hatud Express wasn’t created to compete with Grab or Foodpanda.

It was built because no one else was fighting for the little guys — the small restaurants, online sellers, and homegrown startups trying to survive in a system that rarely notices them.

While the service helps hungry customers, working moms, seniors, and sick neighbors get what they need, that’s only part of the story.

At its core, E-Hatud exists to connect small businesses with local customers, giving them a chance to grow and be seen.

Built for Locals, by Locals

From day one, E-Hatud Express has operated with one mission in mind:
to make delivery accessible, affordable, and community-driven.

Through E-Hatud:

  • Small restaurants reach new customers without excessive commission fees.

  • Online sellers and home-based entrepreneurs gain reliable delivery support.

  • Local riders earn fair income while serving their own towns and barangays.

Each delivery isn’t just a transaction. It’s a connection that strengthens the local economy and community trust.

The Heart of E-Hatud

The big players already have funding, exposure, and national reach.

E-Hatud Express focuses on what they often overlook: heart, connection, and shared purpose.

The company is proof that meaningful innovation can start anywhere.

That a small town can spark a movement.

That startups can rise not from capital, but from commitment to community.

Growing Beyond Expectations

Today, E-Hatud Express operates in Hinunangan, Sogod, Maasin City, Bato, and Hilongos, with active plans to expand to more towns across the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

Recently, E-Hatud also became IPO-registered, marking an important milestone in its mission to strengthen the local economy of smaller towns.

The company aims to build a strong backbone for on-demand, fast, and efficient delivery — supporting communities that have long been underserved by national platforms.

E-Hatud currently operates entirely through Facebook, making it one of the few chat-based delivery systems in the Philippines that utilize the latest AI technology for automation and order management.

As the company continues to evolve, it is gradually moving toward full automation, ensuring faster response times, smarter order handling, and seamless service for both customers and merchants.

E-Hatud isn’t just a service. It’s a statement:
We don’t just deserve a seat at the table. We can build the table ourselves.
